The Dallas Museum of Art sponsors literary events every year under the Arts & Letters Live banner. Last year, I saw Christopher Moore, David Sedaris, and Neil Gaiman. I was reading through the list and wasn't very excited about the line up until I got to April.

24 S. E. Hinton, 7:00 p.m. BOOKSMART "Big D Reads a Timeless Classic" Order tickets online

The Outsiders has sold over 14 million copies and ranks as a classic, still widely regarded as one of the most important books in the young adult genre. S. E. Hinton first published the novel in 1967, when she was 18, inspired by class conflicts she experienced in her high school. The central themes of the book include friendship, loyalty and the message that money doesn't buy happiness. In April 2014, Big D Reads will distribute 20,000 copies and encourage the entire city to read and talk about the novel.

This is a free event. If you are going to be in Dallas on April 24th, you only have to register.
