are they worth it? I've managed without one for my entire adult life, but I'd really like to start making nut butters.

I also have this thing where if I'm planning on making an electronics purchase I vigorously research it online and end up chickening out because it's going to be a POS that will never work as promised, anyway.

When I got back from my Peace Corps service, where I lived in a town that sold one brand of olive oil in all of its shops, I remember standing in a super market aisle for over ten minutes watching the wall of olive oils and willing one to tell me that they were the best, most reasonably priced one. It doesn't much matter when it's a bottle of olive oil, but food processors are expensive. No matter how often I remind myself: HMSKittens, you're being ridiculous. Just buy a goddamn food processor and return it if it doesn't work.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards a cuisinart. Does anyone have one that they'd recommend?
