I wanted Canh Chua broth today so bought some at the store. It was a thai brand, but I figured: Meh, add some pineaple, it'll be fine.

It wasn't. It was gross. Real Canh Chua is too labor intensive (I just want to put cabbage and mushrooms in it and call it a day!) and when I asked a Vietnamese friend, she reminded me that I could just go to hot pot.

So, who knows of a broth base I can use that's sweetish, and delish?
