One of my casual resolutions this year is to catch up on some of the books I've been meaning to read for a while, but just never got around to. Today I read The Bell Jar, and goddamn did I wish I'd read it at 18. I wish I could pull The Catcher in the Rye out of my teenaged hands and replace it. By the time I got to college I was into ol' Sylvia's poetry, and kind of looked past the novel. Anyway, Plath's relationship to that book is super interesting, too.
I unofficially dedicated this month to reading badass women writers, so I have Jesmyn Ward, Maggie Nelson, and Zadie Smith to get to next (and I'm FINALLY reading Judith Butler's classic Gender Trouble, huzzah!).
What are some books that you guys have been meaning to read, but haven't gotten around to yet?
