This is going to be a very (very) niche market but I am so unbelievably happy right now that this is your "don't be scared, it's not that complicated" piece of the week. Guys, I played Descent last night.
But enough about me, here's how you play old dos games on your computer
For a mac, download Boxer here and install
Now go to one of these websites:
type in the name of desired game and download.
On a mac, unzip the file and just drag the entire folder (not just the .exe file) into the boxer app. Weep big fat tears of joy.
On a PC, open Dfend and drap the zip file into the interface. Huzzah.
There's a lot to be said for modern games, what with the graphics and the fancy joysticks. But when it comes down to it, all you need is a good plot, some complicated key combinations, and something moving on the screen to suck away your day.
Feel free to add your favorite old games in the comments!
Also, and this is neither here nor there, but Gilt is having a 50% off sale for the burger joint so if you're from NYC you should probably do that.
